The Imperial Ice Stars, The Sleeping Beauty on Ice - National Tour 2005

Lunchbox Theatrical Productions presents the UK premiere of The Imperial Ice Stars, The Sleeping Beauty On Ice. Combining the brilliance of world-class ice skating with the intimacy of the theatre, The Sleeping Beauty On Ice commences a 14 week major national_tour opening at Wales Millenium Centre, Cardiff, on Wednesday 12 January 2005.

World ice-skating star Mandy Woetzel (1995 European Champion, 1997 World Champion and 1998 Olympic Bronze Medallist) heads a cast of 23 Olympic, World, National and European Championship skaters showing the kind of bravura and showy style that has propelled the Russian ballet classics for many years. Having adapted beautifully to the theatrical demands of narrative and character, these former competitive Russian skaters bring grace and fluidity to the discipline and technical demands of world-class ice dancing.

‘Elegant, sophisticated, stylish and, above all, supremely accomplished’
The Daily Telegraph 2004

Tony_Mercer (internationally recognised as one of the world’s leading directors of theatre on ice) transports the audience, young and old, into the magical world of fairytale. Set to the sumptuous music of Tchaikovsky, The Sleeping Beauty On Ice tells the classic story of Princess Aurora and her handsome Prince. With Carabosse, the wicked black fairy, casting a deadly spell upon her, Aurora’s only hope of survival and true happiness lies with The Lilac Fairy. The rest, as they say, is fairytale history.

‘An evening of pure escapism’
Capital Times 2004

With lavish backdrops and scenery designed by Australia’s Eamon D’Arcy (production designer Sydney 2000 Olympic Games opening ceremony), The Sleeping Beauty On Ice promises to be the spectacular theatrical extravaganza of 2005.

‘A dazzling night out – the production is flawless’
New Zealand Herald 2004
