I can sum this show up fairly simply - utterly breathtaking.
Anyone who thought they were in for a serene perhaps lesser version of the ballet last night was very much mistaken. For Swan Lake on Ice is as powerful as it is spectacular.
At times joyful, at times tearful, a full house was utterly mesmerised by a cast of more than two dozen world-class figure skaters in this emotionally-charged show. But not only do they beautifully portray the timeless tale of Swan Lake, they do it with such amazing dexterity.
There's aerial gymnastics, skating swans on stilts and spins and turns so fast you feel dizzy from your seat. Each time you thought they couldn't better the last sequence, the Imperial Ice Stars produced a spiral within a ring of fire, a sword fight or a tap dance, Russian dance, Irish jig or flamenco on ice.
Our Odette, former junior world champion and star of last year's ITV Dancing on Ice, Olga Sharutenko, is incredible alongside her strong and superb Prince Siegfried Vadim Yarkov, a former member of the USSR squad. Evil Rothbart, Anton Klykov, also won himself a host of admirers with a dazzling display.
The applause from a full house on the first night was deafening. It's easy to see why this show continues to play to packed houses around the world.
Catch it here before the ice melts on Saturday.
