The Imperial Ice Stars previous production of Sleeping Beauty on Ice, played to over 500,000 people worldwide and toured in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, UK, Germany, Spain, Holland, South Africa, Belgium and Russia.

The performers between them have won over 200 competition medals.

There are 6 working couples on the tour.

The show has been choreographed by the world’s leading Russian choreographers, some of whom coached the Olympic competitors in the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.

Some of the skating moves used in the show have never been seen in the world before – not even at the recent Winter Olympics.

Most of the daring moves performed in the show would normally be performed in an arena, of approximately 60m x 60m. The stage the performers skate on in the theatre is only 15m x 15m.

49 people tour with the show including performers, technicians and a doctor.

There are over 110 costumes in the production.

The performers rehearsed 9 hours a day, 6 days a week, for 8 weeks to pull the show together.

25 pairs of skates and 50 sets of blades carried with the troupe on tour.

Countries represented by the musicians who have played on the recordings are England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Singapore.

Data from the recordings, audio edits, audio masters, scores, instrument parts amounts to over 600 Giga-bytes which, due to being ‘safety backed up’, amounts to over 1.25 Terra-bytes (1 Terra-byte = 1000 Giga-bytes).

14 tonnes of ice are used in the production – the same weight as nearly 3 elephants.

14,000 litres of water are required – enough to fill 154 baths or take 205 showers lasting 5 minutes.

2,500 litres of anti-freeze are used – enough to fill 100 car cooling systems.

The 15 kilometres of pipe used in the refrigeration, if laid end to end, would take Cathy Freeman 30.98 minutes to run (based on her Olympic 400m time).

The ice machines use the same amount of electricity as it would take to run 45 single-bar radiators.

The ice reaches temperatures of minus15 degrees C, three times colder than your household freezer.

The ice rink takes over 140 man-hours to build but only 30 man-hours to dismantle.
