The Sleeping Beauty on Ice at Castle Howard
Castle Howard is Yorkshire’s finest historic house. Built over 300 years ago, the House remains home to the Howard family and is lived in today by the Hon. Simon and Mrs Howard and their twins Merlin and Octavia. Each year over 200,000 people visit Castle Howard to enjoy the House and Gardens, a changing programme of exhibitions and events, as well as boat trips and the adventure playground. Visitors can also browse a choice of shops, including the award-winning farm shop, plant centre, chocolate shop and gift shop. Castle Howard is open daily from 10am until 4pm (last admission).
Ticket-holders to The Sleeping Beauty on Ice wishing to visit the House and/or Gardens at Castle Howard will be charged the standard entrance fees.

Dining
Visitors to The Sleeping Beauty on Ice will be able to picnic in the Tented Ice Palace Garden or in the designated car park before the show commences, while enjoying magnificent views of Castle Howard. Light refreshments can also be purchased from the Ice Bar. Alternatively, the Courtyard Café can be accessed along with the Plant Centre tea room and Farm Shop at no additional cost, and will be open from 10am until 4.30pm.
Ticket-holders to Castle Howard’s Gardens or House will be able to picnic in the grounds or dine at the Fitzroy Room (open 11am until 5pm). Please visit www.castlehoward.co.uk for further information.
Directions

- Castle Howard is located just 15 miles north east of York, just off the A64 in the direction of Malton and Scarborough.
- From the North: From the A1 take the A61 to Thirsk then the A170 to Helmsley. Before Helmsley turn right onto the B1257 and follow the brown signs.
- From the South: Take the A1M to Junction 45 and follow the A64 east to York. Continue past York and eventually you will pick up the brown signs for Castle Howard.
- Our nearest town is Malton, a lively market town situated just 5 miles away. Malton railway station has direct connections to York, Leeds and Scarborough, and York has fast links to London and other major cities across Britain.
- Nearest airports include Leeds/Bradford 50 miles and Humberside 54 miles
- ESSENTIAL COACH DRIVER INFORMATION: To reach Castle Howard from the A64 you are required to negotiate a Gate House. Please note that height restrictions do apply and any vehicles over 3.43m H x 2.60m W should access Castle Howard via Malton and Coneythorpe. Brown signs will direct you from Malton town centre.

- BY RAIL: The nearest railway station is Malton, which is a distance of 6 miles away from Castle Howard. Trains arrive frequently from the direction of Scarborough and York, and taxis are available at the station. Approximate cost is £10.00 one way, but should be confirmed with your taxi driver. Alternatively time your arrival to coincide with the Coastliner Shuttle.
- PARKING: Free event parking. Please follow AA signs.
